"The first message of the future -I believe- should be devoted to increasing the participation of every Albanian in the state-building and the right of citizenship of all our citizens, especially diaspora Albanians. The main focus would be a multiplied effort to address the challenge of registering the Albanian population and exercising a fundamental constitutional right." Prime Minister Rama said during a press conference with Ramush Haradinaj, Kosovo's newly elected Prime Minister.
The Year of Skanderbeg, also known as an initiative to revive the national patrimony will become -according to the Prime minister - a path to reconnect with the historical past. However, according to voices coming from the Democratic Party, the Prime Minister has politicized the initiative to solicit the diaspora vote. The Democratic Party has rejected the Prime Minister's idea to enable the electronic vote with the excuse that it will be easily manipulated and even rigged.
In efforts to bring the two Albanian populated countries together, Edi Rama emphasized that economic cooperation in the region is paramount. The rationale behind the regional cooperation within a larger framework is in alignment- Rama said- with what the European Union requires from Albania and Kosovo.
